As the index of stock market falls, the mind of each investor is complicated in that people always don't know what the bottom is. Is this the lowest point or just the midpoint? Although I also a common investor as everybody else, I have a thought. No matter what price you bought the stocks, you have to hold on your stocks unless the reasons are gone when buying them. However, most people are short-term investors; they want earn money from the difference between stock price. Furthermore, most of those use loans or leverage to create spectacular revenue. As long as the market is upward, their wallets are full all the time. Thus, on the other hand, they face big troubles with index plunging.
The sublime mortgage in United State has fired throughout the world. As someone ever said “as American sneezes, none could avoid cold.” Be a largest consumer market, based on the dollars, American's economy is not only a domestic problem but an international one. The bomb explodes and will cause a series of reactions in the world. Taiwan, as a country depending on international trade, should take very serious look at the sublime mortgage problem.
The stock market plunging these days reflects investors' weak psychology. Even if the mortgage problem does not affect Taiwan very deeply, people still sold their stocks crazily because they have uncertain information about Taiwan's competence. The only thing they know is the conflict between green and blue party. So far the candidates of both parties do not propose a pragmatic blueprint of Taiwan's economy. They seems to understand the hardness around society and the problems around the companies, but all they provide is old-fashion products which Taiwan people can easily debunk.
According to economic theories, stock market is an index of future, in other word, hope. A hope of people in Taiwan as well as country follows the stock market index. On the other side, the presidential candidate is also a hope of Taiwan in the following four years. If one of them can give people a proposal which makes people work together to create a vigorous Taiwan, I will give him my ticket no matter his color. But he must understand the word, “pragmatic”, because a check that can not be cashed will make people suspect the party's honest. After all their reputation will be like the index in the storm of the sublime mortgage.
